This Service Release is
required for all AIM users.
NOTICE : Users who
purchase the AIM product after this release date, DO NOT need to
download this Service Release. The Service Release upgrades are
already incorporated into the shipping CD.

download ) includes the following:

Integration of the
Administrator application component to the suite.

Updated versions of all AIM
application components.

Database Engine upgrade from
v8.x to v9.x.

Automatic creation of
configuration tables to support Login / Rights and Permissions.

Populate configuration
tables with default Users / Rights and Permissions rules.

Upgraded Manifest files.

Updated Quick Reference
Guides.

User Interface refinements.
NOTICE FOR EXISTING USERS
: Take the following steps:
-
Download this Service
Release to your computer.
-
Open the downloaded file and
extract ALL of the contents to your "aim" folder. If you
installed AIM using the defaults, then the location will be
C:\Program Files\ caplen company\aim. You may be prompted to
overwrite existing files ... select the YesToAll option.
-
Launch the Data Records
application component to execute the Service Release upgrade.
NOTICE TO ZOOLOGICAL USERS
: This Service Release provides Login / Rights and Permissions
functionality for Zoological users. By default, the Login
mechanism is turned off. If you want / need to turn the Login
mechanism on, then take the following steps:
-
Launch the Administrator
AFTER you have followed the above download and upgrade steps.
-
Select the View | User Login
Required menu item.
-
Create the desired /
required User Accounts and set their usage Permissions.

If you purchased your AIM CD
after the above Service Release date, then you only need to download the
desired application update in this section, otherwise, if you purchased
you AIM CD before the above Service Release date, then you need to
download the above Service Release as well as the desired application
update in this section.
Take the following steps:

Click the desired link to download the
application component update to your computer.

Open the downloaded file and
extract the content to your "aim" folder. If you
installed AIM using the defaults, then the location will be
C:\Program Files\ caplen company\aim. You may be prompted to

To install a Product or
Documentation update, take the following steps:
-
Click the desired Application
Component link in the Product or Documentation section.
-
At the prompt, select the
Save option.
-
Save the file to the aim
folder. If you installed the original CD to the default settings,
the location will be
C:\Program Files\caplen
company\aim
-
Double-click the downloaded file(s) and
extract the content to the aim folder. If you are downloading
a Quick Reference Guide, please read and follow the directions in the
below QRG DOWNLOAD NOTICE.
QRG DOWNLOAD NOTICE:
Microsoft introduced Security update 896358 and Windows Server 2003 SP1
which included changes to the InfoTech protocol that block the ability to
view remote content. These changes were introduced to reduce security
vulnerabilities in HTML Help and can result in HTML help topics not being
displayed properly. Because of this security update, you will
need to choose one of the following methods when downloading Quick Reference
Guide files:
Method 1 : In the
Open File-Security Warning dialog box, click
to clear the Always ask before opening this file
check box.
Method 2 : If you
have already extracted the QRG file (*.chm) from the downloaded compressed
folder, then take the following steps:
-
Right-click the QRG file (*.chm),
and then click Properties.
-
Click
Unblock.
-
Double-click the QRG file (*.chm)
to open the QRG file.
